Tere Naam is a 2003 Indian Hindi-language tragic romantic drama film directed by Satish Kaushik and written by Jainendra Jain. The film stars Salman Khan and marks the Hindi film debut of Bhumika Chawla. It is an adaptation of the Tamil film Setu (1999).
The story is inspired by a true story of a friend of Bala, who fell in love, lost his mind and was admitted to a mental hospital. Tere Naam was released in cinemas on 15 August 2003 and was a moderate success at the box office, although its music album proved to be a major hit. Khan’s performance as Radhe Mohan was widely praised by critics, with many calling it his best acting role to date.

Tere Naam Movie Plot (Story)
Rajbir “Radhe” Mohan (Salman Khan) is an unemployed but fearless man who lives with his hardcore friends. He lives with his elder brother Ajay, a man from a simple family who dislikes Radhe’s violent ways and wants him to get a stable job.
Radhe once studied at City College and still manages student elections. Although known for his aggressiveness, he often helps people – such as saving girls from harassment – which earns him some respect on campus.
He falls in love with Nirjara (Bhumika Chawla), a new student and the daughter of a poor priest. Radhe helps him a few times and mistakes his humility for love. He proposes, but she rejects him and calls him a goon.
Later, Radhe saves her sister Mamta from being lured into prostitution and also beats up her greedy husband to get justice. Nirjara slowly understands Radhe’s true heart and starts loving her.
However, Radhe is badly beaten by a rival gang and suffers brain damage. She is sent to a mental hospital. When Nirjara is forced to marry someone else, she takes her own life. Radhe, when she runs out to see him, finds him dead and calmly returns to the institution.
In the end, an older Radhe is shown still living there, tying peacock feathers in his memory.
