“Sitare Zameen Par” is a light and emotional film that brings smiles, laughter and warm moments. The story of the film is about Gulshan, a proud basketball coach who joins community service after a drunk driving case. He is asked to train a group of adults with learning disabilities. At first, he looks down on them and thinks that they can’t do anything. But as time passes, they surprise him with their spirit, friendliness and honesty.
The film tries to show how valuable every person is, no matter what their background. Although it has some touching parts, it doesn’t always go deep enough to fully impress the audience. Some of the characters feel underdeveloped, and the emotional bond between Gulshan and the team only forms near the end, which may seem too late for some viewers. The scenes with his wife and mother also seem less compelling.
However, “Sitare Zameen Par” offers a new experience of acceptance, transformation, and learning from unexpected places. It reminds us that life’s best lessons often come from the people we least expect.

Plot
Gulshan (Aamir Khan) is a hot-tempered but skilled basketball coach. He gets angry quickly and doesn’t care much about others, especially the disabled – he even calls them crazy. He is married to Sunita (Genelia Deshmukh), but he doesn’t talk to her much or try to understand her feelings.
One day, Gulshan drives drunk and crashes into a police car. The court orders him to do community service. So now, he has to train children with special needs in a care home.
He doesn’t want to do it at first. But then he meets some children – Sharmaji, Lotus, Raju, Karim, Sunil, Golu, Satbir, Guddu, Bantu and Hargovind. They look older, but they think and act like they are about 5 to 8 years old.
What started as a punishment slowly changes him. Gulshan starts taking care of the children. In the end, he says that he has not taught them anything – they have taught him to live better. He becomes a new person and starts living with more love and care.

Plus Points:
The story of “Sitare Zameen Par” may not seem very new to those who have seen “Tare Zameen Par”. But the emotions in SZP are a bit different. The film beautifully shows how children with Down syndrome and other learning disabilities can achieve success if they really try.
The first part of the film is fast-paced and keeps the audience interested. But in the second part, there are some scenes where the director loses his grip a bit. The way Gulshan faces problems while coaching children with learning disabilities in basketball is shown in a good and honest way.
Aamir Khan does a very good job in the role of a coach who wants his special team to win. His relationship with his wife Sunita feels emotional and real. The last part of the film is very touching and gives a happy and strong ending to this emotional story.
Minus Points:
After seeing how well-made “Taare Zameen Par” is, many fans may feel that Sitaare Zameen Par doesn’t reach that level. Even though the film tries to portray emotions, it doesn’t leave a strong impression on people like the first film.
Films like Sitaare Zameen Par don’t always have to be entertaining and action-packed, but the emotional part should feel real. In this film, the stories of some of the characters feel too short and don’t go into enough depth.
Also, the way Gulshan talks and works with children with learning disabilities doesn’t feel strong. The bond between the coach and the team is only formed towards the end, which may be too late to touch people’s hearts. The scenes with the hero’s mother and wife also strengthen the film.
