James Gunn breathes new life into the Man of Steel with a fresh, vibrant look that finally captures Superman’s heart, humor, and heroism. Eschewing the usual origin story, Gunn dives straight into the action, presenting Superman (David Cornsweat) as an established hero battling a modern-day Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), now a manipulative tech billionaire. The film cleverly blends old-time optimism with a modern sensibility, giving us a Clark Kent who stands up for truth, justice, and genuine human compassion, even when the world deems those values outdated.
The tone is fun, quirky, and boldly comic-book-inspired, with great moments from Krypto the Superdog and Nathan Fillion’s hilariously self-absorbed Green Lantern. Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) is sharp, confident, and fully aware of Clark’s secret, which adds emotional depth and tension to their relationship. Gunn weaves in timely themes of loneliness, self-absorption, and moral courage without losing the film’s playful energy.
Packed with quirky roles, chaotic charm, and heartwarming moments, Superman doesn’t just reinvent the character – it reimagines him for a new generation. It’s a bold, funny, and emotionally rich reboot that finally allows Superman to be both mythic and relatable, delivering a film that’s as strange and hopeful as the hero.

Superman Movie Plot (Story)

Thirty years ago, Jor-El and Lara Lor-Ven sent their child, Kal-El, to Earth to escape the destruction of Krypton. Raised by Jonathan and Martha Kent in Smallville, Kansas, Kal-El grew up as Clark Kent. Earth’s yellow sun gave him extraordinary powers. Inspired by his parents’ broken farewell message, he became Superman and revealed himself to the world three years ago. Clark keeps his identity a secret while working as a reporter in Metropolis with Lois Lane, who knows his truth and has a deep connection with him.
Recently, Superman stopped an invasion of the U.S.-allied Jarhanpur by Boravia. Billionaire Lex Luthor, fearing Superman’s power, used a clone named Ultraman to trap him and influence public opinion. Luthor also steals the entire Kryptonian message, which reveals the conflicting hopes of Jor-El and Lara. Superman surrenders, but is trapped in Luthor’s pocket universe. With the help of Metamorpho, Krypto, and the Justice Gang, Superman escapes and uncovers Luthor’s plot. After a fierce battle, he defeats Ultraman and closes the rift threatening the city. With Luthor’s arrest, Superman’s name is cleared, and peace is restored – at least for now.
Superman Movie Review
It’s been three years since Superman took to the skies of Metropolis. In that time, the city’s people have grown to appreciate him greatly. Standing up for truth and justice, the caped hero from Krypton has brought light to a world that often seems dark.
But trouble is looming on the horizon.
Superman has recently prevented a conflict between two nations, stopped the war before the first shot was fired, and saved thousands of lives. However, his unwanted involvement in international affairs has unsettled the U.S. government, raising questions about whether his goals are truly aligned with their own.
Even though he has saved lives – as star journalist and Superman’s partner Lois Lane reminds him – his actions will not go without consequences.
One man who needs no reason to hate Superman is Lex Luthor. Lex urges the people to look past this alien visitor. In his opinion, the world should celebrate its own (why not?) one. Lex wants everyone to see this so-called “Man of Steel” as he is – a foreign threat whose very existence undermines human potential.
And Lex has wasted no time. Since Superman’s first appearance, Luthor has been using every trick in his power to plot his enemy’s downfall… and now, he’s ready to strike.
Can Superman stick to his principles when Lex begins to poison the public’s trust?
Superman has strength, speed, flight, X-ray vision, and incredible abilities. But none of them can stop the influence of Lex’s media empire. In the end, it may be Superman’s compassion that proves to be his most powerful weapon.
